John Laker (16?? - 1659)
Married Thomasina Coquor 9th June 1628 in Shipley. Three children: Ann (1632), John (1633) both baptised in Shipley, and another child baptised in Thakeham (1637). Thomasina was buried 17th May 1641 in Shipley.
Mary Jupp (16?? - 16??)
They were married 19th December 1644 in Shipley. John was buried 13th April 1659 in Shipley. The children from this second marriage were:

Nicholas Laker (16?? - 1742)
Mary (16?? - 1749)
This Nicholas was a witness to a wedding in Ashurst in 1698. He and Mary must have been born in Shipley because they are marked as "POOR" in the baptism records of 1701, and a parish only provided for its own poor in those times.
It should be noted that because of a tax imposed on parish register entries in 1694 it is possible that Nicholas & Mary were not married. The PR 1701 baptism does not say Mary his wife as on other entries. That tax was repealed in 1702. The old workhouse at Renches Farm has two fields near it that are marked Lakers Field in the 1841 Tithe map. This was possibly land allocated to
Nicholas and cleared by him, so that he could support his family.
Nicholas was buried 7th February 1742 at Shipley. He is descibed as a husbandman. Mary was buried 11th February 1749 at Shipley. Their children were:

Probably born in Shipley as there were many Kensets there.
They were married 24th May 1728 at Shipley. Nicholas was living in the poor house at Shipley when he married. He was apparently taken in by the vicar at one point.
Sarah was buried 27th August 1778 at Shipley. Nicholas was buried 3rd March 1782 at Shipley. Their children were all baptised in Shipley:

They were married 29th April 1754 at West Grinstead. Cherry died soon after the birth of their twelfth child and was buried 16th February 1774 at Shipley. James was buried 27th February 1821 at Shipley from West Grinstead. Their children were all baptised in Shipley:
